Many important medical breakthroughs including how diseases are treated have come about from research conducted through epidemiological studies like the Busselton Health Study.  For over 40 years, our surveys have provided unique epidemiological data that have informed public health, genetic and clinical research. The studies have attracted worldwide recognition, commendation and collaboration.

Medical research is expensive yet the benefits to individuals, the community, and society as a whole are immeasurable. We have a vision to change the the health and quality of life of mankind, from childhood through to adulthood. We do not accept the status quo of unhealthy ageing, as we know it today.

To facilitate this vision the Institute is embarking upon its most important and challenging fundraising campaign ever: to raise $2m to establish a framework for further population-based health studies starting with the Healthy Ageing Study. This framework will also enable us to study the causes, natural history and health promotion aspects of common human diseases by:

• Untapping the goldmine of information contained within the 40 year collection of survey data
• Employing adequately equipped, dedicated research scientists and administration staff to conduct research that overcomes barriers limiting knowledge of common chronic diseases
• Establishing a sustainable, world-class Busselton Research Survey Centre

Only through vital funding support can we use our unique resource for the better understanding of disease processes which will result in improved preventative stategies and disease treatments.

The Australian Taxation Office has endorsed the Busselton Population Medical Research Institute as a deductible gift recipient and an income tax exempt charitable entity for income and capital gains tax purposes. All donations over $2 are tax deductable
